ועבד יאשיהו בירושלם ית פסחא קדם יי ונכסו פסחא בארבסר לירחא דניסן:

Josiah kept a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. They killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

ואקים כהניא על מטרתהון ותקפנון לפולחנא דבית מקדשא דיי:
dyy mqdsha dbyth lpwlkhna wthqpnwn mTrthhwn el khnya waqym
He set the priests in their offices and encouraged them in the service of Yahweh’s house.

ואמר לליואי דמלפין ית עמא לכל בית ישראל דאתקדשו לשמא דיי הבו ית ארונא דקודשא בביתא די בנא שלמה בר דוד מלכא דישראל לית לכון רשותא למטל בכתף כדון פלחו ית יי אלהכון וית עמיה בית ישראל:
yshral byth emyh wyth alhkwn yy yth plkhw kdwn bkthp lmTl rshwtha lkwn lyth dyshral mlka dwd br shlmh bna dy bbytha dqwdsha arwna yth hbw dyy lshma dathqdshw yshral byth lkl ema yth dmlpyn llyway wamr
He said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to Yahweh, “Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built. It will no longer be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve Yahweh your God and his people Israel.

ואתקינו לבית אבהתכון הי בפלוגותכון היכמא די פקיד משה והיכמא דכתב דוד מלכא דישראל והיכמא די כתבא דשלמה בריה:
bryh dshlmh kthba dy whykma dyshral mlka dwd dkthb whykma mshh pqyd dy hykma bplwgwthkwn hy abhthkwn lbyth wathqynw
Prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

וקומו בבית מקדשא לפלוגות בית אבהתא לאחוכו בני עמא ופלוגות בית אבא ללואי:
llway aba byth wplwgwth ema bny lakhwkw abhtha byth lplwgwth mqdsha bbyth wqwmw
Stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brothers the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites.

וכוסו פסחא ואתקדשו ואתקינו לאחוכון למעבד היכמא די מליל יי בידא דמשה:
dmshh byda yy mlyl dy hykma lmebd lakhwkwn wathqynw wathqdshw pskha wkwsw
Kill the Passover lamb, sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to Yahweh’s word by Moses.”

ואפריש יאשיהו לבני עמא אען אמריא ובני עזיא כלא לפסחיא לכל מאן דאשתכח למנינא תלתין אלפין ותורין תלתא אלפין לנכסת קודשיא דחגא אלין מקנינא דמלכא:
dmlka mqnyna alyn dkhga qwdshya lnksth alpyn thltha wthwryn alpyn thlthyn lmnyna dashthkkh man lkl lpskhya kla ezya wbny amrya aen ema lbny yashyhw waprysh
Josiah gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and young goats, all of them for the Passover offerings, to all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bulls. These were of the king’s substance.

ורברבנוי לנדבתא לעמא לכהניא ולליואי אפרישו חלקיהו וזכריהו ויחיאל סרכי בית מקדשא דיי לכהניא יהבו לפסחיא תרין אלפין ושית מאה ותורין תלת מאה:
mah thlth wthwryn mah wshyth alpyn thryn lpskhya yhbw lkhnya dyy mqdsha byth srky wykhyal wzkryhw khlqyhw apryshw wllyway lkhnya lema lndbtha wrbrbnwy
His princes gave a free will offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the rulers of God’s house, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand six hundred small livestock, and three hundred head of cattle.

וכנניהו ושמעיהו ונתנאל אחוהי וחשביהו ויעיאל ויוזבד רברבי ליואי אפרישו לליואי לפסחיא אען חמשא אלפין ותורין חמש מאה:
mah khmsh wthwryn alpyn khmsha aen lpskhya llyway apryshw lyway rbrby wywzbd wyeyal wkhshbyhw akhwhy wnthnal wshmeyhw wknnyhw
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers, and Hashabiah, Jeiel, and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, gave to the Levites for the Passover offerings five thousand small livestock and five hundred head of cattle.

ואתקנת עבדתא וקמו כהניא על דוכנהון וליואי על פלוגותהון הי כתפקדתא דמלכא:
dmlka kthpqdtha hy plwgwthhwn el wlyway dwknhwn el khnya wqmw ebdtha wathqnth
So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites by their divisions, according to the king’s commandment.

ונכיסו פסחא וזריקו כהניא ית דמא מידיהון וליואי משלחין:
mshlkhyn wlyway mydyhwn dma yth khnya wzryqw pskha wnkysw
They killed the Passover lambs, and the priests sprinkled the blood which they received from their hands, and the Levites skinned them.

ואעדיאו עלתא במהבותהון לבית אבהתהון לבני עמא לקרבא קדם יי כמא דכתיב בספרא דמשה והיכדין בצפרא:
btspra whykdyn dmshh bspra dkthyb kma yy qdm lqrba ema lbny abhthhwn lbyth bmhbwthhwn eltha waedyaw
They removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer to Yahweh, as it is written in the book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.

וטוו ית פסחא בנורא כדחזי וית נכסת קודשיא בשילו בקדריא ובדודיא ובמלוסיא ואושיטו לכל בני עמא:
ema bny lkl wawshyTw wbmlwsya wbdwdya bqdrya bshylw qwdshya nksth wyth kdkhzy bnwra pskha yth wTww
They roasted the Passover with fire according to the ordinance. They boiled the holy offerings in pots, in cauldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people.

ומן בתר כדון אתקינו להון ולכהניא ארום כהניא בני אהרן מתעסקין באסקות עלתא ותרביא עד ליליא וליואי תקינו להון ולכהניא בני אהרן:
ahrn bny wlkhnya lhwn thqynw wlyway lylya ed wthrbya eltha basqwth mthesqyn ahrn bny khnya arwm wlkhnya lhwn athqynw kdwn bthr wmn
Afterward they prepared for themselves and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busy with offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night. Therefore the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

ומשבחיא בני אסף על אתר מוקמתהון הי כתפקידתא דדוד ואסף והימן וידותון נביא דמלכא ותרעיא לתרע ותרע לית להון למעדי מעל פולחנהון ארום אחוהון ליואי אתקינו להון:
lhwn athqynw lyway akhwhwn arwm pwlkhnhwn mel lmedy lhwn lyth wthre lthre wthreya dmlka nbya wydwthwn whymn wasp ddwd kthpqydtha hy mwqmthhwn athr el asp bny wmshbkhya
The singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their place, according to the commandment of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the gatekeepers were at every gate. They didn’t need to depart from their service, because their brothers the Levites prepared for them.

ואתקנת כל עבדת פולחנא דיי ביומא ההוא למעבד פסחא ואסקות עלתא על מדבחא דיי הי כתפקדתא דמלכא יאשיהו:
yashyhw dmlka kthpqdtha hy dyy mdbkha el eltha wasqwth pskha lmebd hhwa bywma dyy pwlkhna ebdth kl wathqnth
So all the service of Yahweh was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings on Yahweh’s altar, according to the commandment of King Josiah.

ועבדו בני ישראל דאשתכחו מהימנין קדם יי ית פסחא בעדנא ההיא ברמשא וית חגא דפטיריא שבעא יומין:
ywmyn shbea dpTyrya khga wyth brmsha hhya bedna pskha yth yy qdm mhymnyn dashthkkhw yshral bny webdw
The children of Israel who were present kept the Passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

ולא אתעביד פסחא די כמתיה בישראל מן יומי שמואל נביא וכל מלכיא דבית ישראל לא עבדו הי כפסחא די עבד יאשיהו וכהניא וליואי וכל אנש יהודה ובית ישראל דאשתכחו בהימנותא ויתבי ירושלם:
yrwshlm wythby bhymnwtha dashthkkhw yshral wbyth yhwdh ansh wkl wlyway wkhnya yashyhw ebd dy kpskha hy ebdw la yshral dbyth mlkya wkl nbya shmwal ywmy mn byshral kmthyh dy pskha athebyd wla
There was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, nor did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept—with the priests, the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

בתמניסרי שנין למלכותא דיאשיהו אתעבד פסחא הדין:
hdyn pskha athebd dyashyhw lmlkwtha shnyn bthmnysry
This Passover was kept in the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah.
20
בתר כל דנא דאתקין יאשיהו ית בית מקדשא דיי סליק פרעה חגירא מלכא דמצרים לאגחא קרבא בכרכמיש דעל פרת ונפק לקדמותיה יאשיהו:
yashyhw lqdmwthyh wnpq prth del bkrkmysh qrba lagkha dmtsrym mlka khgyra preh slyq dyy mqdsha byth yth yashyhw dathqyn dna kl bthr
After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates, and Josiah went out against him.

ושדר לותיה אזגדין למימר מה אית לי עמך מלך שבטא דבית יהודה לא עלך סלקית לאגחא קרבא ארום אנת מתגרי יומא דין עמי ארום אלהין לבית קרבא די לי וטעותי אמר לסרהבותי כדון פסוק לך מני ומן טעותא דעמי ולא תחבליתך:
thkhblythk wla demy Tewtha wmn mny lk pswq kdwn lsrhbwthy amr wTewthy ly dy qrba lbyth alhyn arwm emy dyn ywma mthgry anth arwm qrba lagkha slqyth elk la yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk emk ly ayth mh lmymr azgdyn lwthyh wshdr
But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you today, but against the house with which I have war. God has commanded me to make haste. Beware that it is God who is with me, that he not destroy you.”

וכד שמע ית מא דאדכר ית טעותיה לא אסתחר לאחורא ולא אחזיר יאשיהו ית אפוהי מניה ארום לאגחא קרבא ביה אשתני ואטקס בזיני קרבא ולא קביל לפתגמי חגירא די מליל על עיסק טעותיה ואתא לאגחא קרבא במישר מגדו:
mgdw bmyshr qrba lagkha watha Tewthyh eysq el mlyl dy khgyra lpthgmy qbyl wla qrba bzyny waTqs ashthny byh qrba lagkha arwm mnyh apwhy yth yashyhw akhzyr wla lakhwra asthkhr la Tewthyh yth dadkr ma yth shme wkd
Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

ומן בגלל דלא תבע יאשיהו אולפן מן קדם יי ואזל לאגחא קרבא במישר מגדו אתפרע מניה מרי עלמא ופתקו ושדו קשתאי גררין למלכא יאשיהו ואמר מלכא לעבדוי אעברו יתי ארום מרעיתי לחדא:
lkhda mreythy arwm ythy aebrw lebdwy mlka wamr yashyhw lmlka grryn qshthay wshdw wpthqw elma mry mnyh athpre mgdw bmyshr qrba lagkha wazl yy qdm mn awlpn yashyhw thbe dla bgll wmn
The archers shot at King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, because I am seriously wounded!”

ואעברו יתיה עבדוי מן רתיכא וארכבוהי על רתיכא תניתא די ליה ואובלוהי לירושלם ומית תמן ואתקבר בקברי אבהתוי וכל אנש יהודה וירושלם מתאבלין על יאשיהו:
yashyhw el mthablyn wyrwshlm yhwdh ansh wkl abhthwy bqbry wathqbr thmn wmyth lyrwshlm wawblwhy lyh dy thnytha rthyka el warkbwhy rthyka mn ebdwy ythyh waebrw
So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

ואלא ירמיהו על יאשיהו אליא רבתא ואמרין עמיה כל רברביא ומטרוניתא והוון מתיבין באליהון על יאשיהו עד יומא הדין ויהבנון לגזירה שנה על ישראל דיהון ספדין על יאשיהו באליהון והאנון כתיבין בספרא דכתב ברוך מן פום ירמיהו על אליתא:
alytha el yrmyhw pwm mn brwk dkthb bspra kthybyn whanwn balyhwn yashyhw el spdyn dyhwn yshral el shnh lgzyrh wyhbnwn hdyn ywma ed yashyhw el balyhwn mthybyn whwwn wmTrwnytha rbrbya kl emyh wamryn rbtha alya yashyhw el yrmyhw wala
Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel. Behold, they are written in the lamentations.

ושאר פתגמי יאשיהו וכל חסדוהי די עבד היכמא די כתיב באוריתא דיי:
dyy bawrytha kthyb dy hykma ebd dy khsdwhy wkl yashyhw pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and his good deeds, according to that which is written in Yahweh’s law,

ופתגמוהי קדמאי מה די עבד בינקותיה ובתראי מה די עבד בעולמותיה וכל דיניא דדאין מן יומא די מלך בר תמניא שנין דהוה טלי עד שנת תמנסרי דהוה עולם כד שארי לתקפא ית בית מקדשא דיי כולהון אתיב למארי דינא מן ממוניה והיך דכי ית בית ישראל ויהודה מן כל סאבותא האנון כתיבין על ספר מלכיא דבית ישראל ודבית יהודה:
yhwdh wdbyth yshral dbyth mlkya spr el kthybyn hanwn sabwtha kl mn wyhwdh yshral byth yth dky whyk mmwnyh mn dyna lmary athyb kwlhwn dyy mqdsha byth yth lthqpa shary kd ewlm dhwh thmnsry shnth ed Tly dhwh shnyn thmnya br mlk dy ywma mn ddayn dynya wkl bewlmwthyh ebd dy mh wbthray bynqwthyh ebd dy mh qdmay wpthgmwhy
and his acts, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
